How to get to Agistri
The Piraeus - Agistri route operates year-round with multiple ferry services daily, including both conventional and high-speed ferries. The journey time ranges from 55 minutes to 1 hour and 35 minutes, depending on the type of boat. Agistri has two ports: Scala and Megalochori (Mylos). Both ports are connected to Aegina and Methana.
Skala
The picturesque harbor of Skala, although full of life with small hotels, apartments, tavernas, and cafes, maintains its calm and relaxing atmosphere. Skala’s beach is right next to the port and in front of the characteristic church of Agioi Anargyroi with its striking blue dome. It is a large sandy beach with golden sand and shallow, clear waters, perfect for families. It is fully organized with sunbeds and umbrellas. At the end of the beach, the landscape changes and becomes pebbly.
Megalochori
Megalochori, also known as 'Milos,' is located just two kilometers from Skala and is the island's capital. It is ideal for wandering through its cobbled streets, among stone houses with blooming courtyards, and for enjoying the authentic island atmosphere in traditional cafes. The iconic windmill dominates the port.
Getting Around
To get around the island, you can use the local buses that serve the main areas of the island. The buses operate routes from Skala and Megalochori to the beaches of the island. If you prefer more flexibility, you can rent a scooter or bicycle to explore the coastal road. Alternatively, you can call a taxi.
Beaches in Agistri
The beaches of the Saronic Gulf are truly enchanting. With their calm sandy shores, crystal-clear waters, and pine trees reaching all the way to the sea, they create the perfect conditions for moments of enjoyment.
Aponisos Beach
Aponisos Beach is a pine-covered islet with turquoise waters and an organized beach, perfect for a day of relaxation. It is connected to Agistri via a narrow bridge or can be approached by boat. The place is perfect for snorkeling and offers one of the best spots to enjoy the sunset over the Saronic Gulf.
Dragonera Beach
The beach of Dragonera is a pebbled beach with crystal-clear waters. It is surrounded by a pine forest, with trees almost reaching the sea. The beach is easily accessible and has an outdoor kiosk.
Mareza Beach
It is not exactly a beach, but a rock above the sea that serves as a diving platform. Access is via a trail that starts from the village of Limenaria.
Skliri Beach
If you are looking for a beach with easy access, you can choose Skliri Beach which is located near the port of Skala. Skliri is a small cove with clear waters and pines.
Halikiada Beach
Halikiada Beach is a beach that combines the beauty of a dense pine forest with ultimate relaxation and crystal-clear waters. Access to the beach is a bit challenging, as it requires walking along a narrow dirt road starting from the village of Skala. The beach is unorganized, without facilities, so it’s important to bring water and everything you will need for the day.
