Kimolos

Kimolos is a small, authentic Cycladic Island that retains its traditional character, far from mass tourism. It belongs to the Western Cyclades group and is located next to Milos, standing out for its serene atmosphere, white architecture, and turquoise beaches. The beauty of Kimolos lies in its simplicity: cobblestone alleys, low houses, relaxed rhythms, and welcoming inhabitants. It is ideal for travelers seeking tranquility and connection with nature.

How to Get to Kimolos

Kimolos has daily ferry connections to Piraeus, with ships reaching the island in about 6 hours. There is also a weekly connection with the port of Lavrio, with the journey lasting 15 hours and 30 minutes.

Chorio

The capital of the island is Chorio. From Chorio, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the sea and the port of Psathi. It is a traditional settlement with narrow alleys, whitewashed houses, and many small squares. Here beats the heart of the island, with cafés, tavernas, and small shops selling local products, while the Medieval Castle of the 14th-15th century, with its narrow streets resembling a labyrinth, offers visitors a unique sense of history.

Apart from Chorio, there are other small settlements worth visiting, such as Goupa, with its quiet beach and colorful sirmata” (caves carved into the rocks), and the fishing boats of the village. Smaller settlements, such as Karras, Prasa, and Agios Nikolaos, are inhabited mainly during the summer months and make ideal destinations for peaceful getaways.

Getting around

To get around the island, you can use the local buses, which frequently connect Psathi with Chorio and some beaches. On the island, you will also find options to rent a car, scooter, or ATV, and there is a taxi service available. Although vehicle traffic is generally allowed throughout the island, part of Chorio is pedestrianized during the summer evenings, preserving its calm and traditional atmosphere.
